Name this blog!

Well, folks, I’ve gone and done it. This afternoon, I kissed MovableType goodbye. Donna and I are now using WordPress 1.5 here at gerenm.net.

With the change in software comes new capabilities and a new site design. So, I think it only fitting that a new name is in order. Leave your suggestions as comments. We’ll choose our favorite in a few days.

We’d also like your comments on the disposition of the 0ld blog entries. Right now, they’re all still “out there,” accessable via a link in the menu bar. But, is it really worth keeping all that stuff? Let us know.

Geren & Donna;
I like it and will spend most of my days and nights trying to come up with a name…..but……..if you select one before I do…..I’ll get over it..

I think that the old byline of “Blather de la Semaine” sums it up succinctly. Of course I can always go to my boundless source of names - classic literature - and come up with…

“One Auspicious Eye”, from Hamlet, Act I Scene 2 - “With one auspicious and one dropping eye, with mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage, in equal scale weighing delight and dole.”

“I Am A Camera”, from Christopher W.B. Isherwood’s “Goodbye to Berlin” - “I am a camera with its shutter open, quite passive, recording, not thinking. Recording the man shaving, at the window opposite, and the woman in the kimono washing her hair. Some day, all this will have to be developed, carefully printed, fixed.”

“A Sight/Site So Touching” from Wordsworth’s “Composed upon Westminster Bridge” - “Earth has not anything to show more fair: Dull would he be of soul who could pass by, a sight so touching in its majesty.”

“What Each Man Does” from Walter Lippmann’s “Public Opinion” - “What each man does is based not on direct and certain knowledge, but on pictures made by himself or given to him…”

Because you and Donna are so much in love and you are both into photography my suggestion is “Eye Love”

As should be obvious by now, we’ve chosen the old “Blather de la Semaine” moniker, at least for the time being. Thanks, Rob, for the suggestion of going back to that.
