Twig One and Twig Two
The planting has begun. After yet another trip to local big orange box home improvement emporium this afternoon (this time, it was for the wheel barrow that wouldn’t fit in the car last night), I stuck the two trees in the ground, along the back property line of our lot — just in time for it to begin raining.
Twig One, a Clump River Birch, went in back corner that adjoins a common area in our community. Twig Two, a European Clump Birch, is placed about 1/3 of the way in from the other corner of the lot. The idea behind the placement of the two trees is to supply filtered shade on the deck and back of the house during the hottest hours of the day during the summer. Of course, these are twigs, so it will be quite a few years before actually works.
Next into the ground will be three Arborvitea and a Corkscrew Willow or two. And then a couple of Boxwood and whatever else we squashed into the car last night. It’s sure a good thing the weather is supposed to be decent for most of the rest of the week….
