Music A Gone-Gone …
For those who are interested, and have been following along, the keyboard is gone. It left on Friday. As it was going out the door, a new (to me) computer was coming in.
What I got was a lightly-used HP 763n PC. Yeah, I know. Not a Mac. Sorry.
The detailed specs are here. Basically, it’s a P4 running about 2.5GHz, using an FIC VG31 mainboard. There are the usual array of ports. One very nice thing about the machine is that it does not have integrated graphics. Instead, there’s a fairly decent nVidea GeForce4-MX420 AGP graphics card in there.
The included memory, at 512MB, is decent. However, the 80GB hard drive is a little small for me. So, Saturday, it was off to CompUSA to see what bargains could be had … I found a Seagate 160GB drive and some Centon RAM to bring the machine up to 1GB. Total cost, after rebates, for both items will be about $75. Yup, that’s right. Net cost was $39.95 for the drive and $34.95 for the memory. Such a bargain!
So, now I’m [computer-wise] happier than a pin in slop.
