Termination of Ponderance

After a great deal of thought over the course of the day, and a little bit of “hands-on” at Penn Camera this evening, I came to a conclusion regarding the choice between the RB67 w/50mm lens, and the superwide zoom lens for the Nikon.

The logical choice was the Tokina 12-24mm F4 zoom to put on the D70s. While the cost did play some small part in the decision, the real determining factor was the versatility. The 12-24 will be a great lens for landscape work, to be sure. But, it will also be an excellent lens for shooting certain hard-to-get formal pictures at weddings, interior and exterior architectural shots, and probably a lot more things I’ve not thought about yet, in situations where an RB67 would not be my choice of camera. I really don’t want to have to employ a sherpa to go shooting on a whim!

With good weather forecast for the weekend, I’m planning to get out and shoot with it. Hopefully, I can hook up with Rob for at least part of the day (he’s planning to shoot his RB67 w/50mm!) and compare some notes.
