End of an Era
CNN Headline reports that the company that makes the original pink flamingo, Union Products, will be closing its factory next week. Pink flamingos had been made in the same factory for 50 years! The designer and owner of Union Products plans to sell the molds, but your ability to obtain a true original will be limited, so act now!

A Day in the Life....

HEY! They make a ROOSTER, too! Let’s get SEVENTY-MILLION for your Mom’s yard!
There are many other things on which I would rather spend that kind of money on. Heck, for the price of seventy-million plastic-roosters-on-a-stick, we could probably buy that double-wide in Delaware we’ve been wanting — and still have enough left over for a gross of flamingos!
that’s good…because you have to have AT LEAST a gross of flamingos if you live in a trailer!
That’s terrible! Union Products employed a lot of people in the town I used to live in. Truly original pink flamingos, with the Don Featherstone signature in the mold, have been becomming rare. I have 4 (2 in each box)…one pair to eventually set up in the yard - I’m waiting til they build the McMansions in the field behind the house, because I want them to be visable and shocking to the occupants - and another pair for safe keeping as an “attic investment”. Oh, well, all good things must come to an end….plastic may never break down in the environment, but not even the iconic plastic pink famingo lives forever.
I’m certain that the company that Mr. Featherstone sells the tooling to will be keen to make more “original” pink flamingos. It will just be a matter of time.
but the ones made by the original manufacturer would carry more value. i wonder how buyers will be able to tell the difference? (omg we’re talking about the ‘value’ of the much maligned pink flamingo!)
i LOVE Tea’s idea to put them in the backyard where the McMansion residents will be able to see them!
