CD Release a Resounding Success

Bob Sima’s CD release concert last night was a resounding success — at least in our opinion. There was a good-sized crowd at the Black Box Theatre in Frederick, and they were treated to a great, evening-long concert, starting with Rod Deacey (owner of Frederick’s Westside Cafe, and the area’s biggest patron of the arts), Krista Detor, and finally, Bob Sima. I say evening-long, because the show lasted just about 3 hours!

The evening was not just a success for Bob, though. It was also a major success for AcoustiSound. It was great chance to prove out the new sound system, and it performed like a champ. The equipment performed flawlessly, and it sounded, IMHO, great! And, the musicians were all very happy, once we got the monitor mix nailed down.

I will say that the band Bob put together was a bit bigger than anything I had planned to do with AcoustiSound. The company’s really geared towards smaller groups — 3 or 4 performers, but Bob’s band was seven! The mix of instrumentation was great, though, with both Bob’s acoustic guitar and an electric guitar/lap steel/banjo player, keyboardist (Krista), violin/mandolin, stand-up bass and drums, as well as backup vocals.

I must say, though, that I couldn’t have pulled it off without the assistance of my good friend, Daryl Beard at Front Row Light and Sound. Daryl provided the monitor speakers, snake, a couple of mics, some cables and one of the equipment racks. Thanks, buddy! I owe you!
