RIAA Moves to Stab Artists in Back

In a not-so-surprising-to-me-move, the RIAA is now pushing to reduce royalties paid to artists when their music is downloaded for use in digital media. By the way, this would be a stab in the back to artists like Metalica that so fervently supported the RIAA’s efforts to squash download services like Napster.

And, at the same time, Universal Music Group wants to lobby for a recordable-media and media player tariff.

Remember, folks, it’s all about keeping the middleman in business. It has nothing to do with protecting artists’ rights.
