Yellow Rose Cavern

The result of stacking three extension tubes (36, 20 and 12mm) behind a 90mm macro lens on a Nikon D70s. I’d guess the area of this image, in reality, is maybe 3/8″ tall by about 1/2″ wide. It’s amazing to me how shallow the depth of field is when the magnification is this high, and the focus, this close.

No manipulation, except color and exposure correction, and cropping (minimal). There’s a flash off-camera right, about 6 inches from the flower. It’s in manual mode, at 1/8 power with a Stoffen diffuser on. To the left is a big, gold/silver reflector.
