Whatever Happened to Simple CD Players?
I need a simple CD player. Nothing fancy, just play a single CD (either CD audio or MP3), with controls for play/pause, stop, skip forward, skip reverse and eject on the front of the unit. And, it needs a display that will show either count-up or count-down. Repeat play would be nice, but not essential.
These things used to be a dime-a-dozen. Now, there ain’t no such animal!
I need this thing to use in the audio system for AcoustiSoundâ„¢, because some events require playback of CD music as background for dance performances. I’d like something I can mount properly in the rack.
The closest thing I can find out there that won’t cost a fortune are some basic DVD players. Unfortunately, many of them almost require the remote control to work, and playback of MP3 files requires a TV/monitor.
I was hoping to do this for under $70. But now, it looks as if I may have to opt for a DJ-type CD player, which, of course, adds to the expense.
BAH!

No one wants single-disk CD-only players anymore. They were scarce five years ago.
I want one, dammit!
As it turns out, there are several available on the DJ market, starting at about $150 (if I can do without the MP3 capability), and going up, up, up!
