We Interrupt All This Camera Business …
You were probably wondering what’s been happening in the the little aquarian world here at the Mortensen Mansion. We’ve been taking our time, making sure everything’s pretty stable, before making any major additions.
We decided a few days ago that everything was probably in good enough order to add a couple of newbies to the tank. We wanted something different, and attractive, and something that would be able to stand up to the Tiger Barbs, should they get rambunctious (although our shoal of Tiger Barbs should be big enough that they won’t have much interest in other fish.
Anyway, we decided on a couple of German, or Blue Ram Dwarf Cichlids. The Dwarf Cichlids are the ones that do the best in a “community” tank — the larger varieties can be a little too aggressive.
One of the pair is shown in the shot above, waiting patiently to be released into the main tank. I’ve found it’s much easier to take pictures of the newcomers when they’re in the plastic holding tank, as newly introduced fish tend to run for cover until they get acclimated to their new surroundings.

I have some extra live plants if you want them.
I have Java Moss and something tall, shinny and leafy.
I meant skinny, not shinny!
The skinny plant is Anachris. It grows like crazy and you can pinch it off.
The Java Moss is fluffy.
Both are healthy, lush and green, but I have too much for my tiny one gallon betta tank.
cool looking fish!
