On30Guy Shay Pickup Wipers — Now accepting Pre-Orders at On30Guy Store!

The next shipment of Shay pickup wipers is expected to arrive at The On30Guy Store early next week, and pre-orders are now being accepted at http://on30guy.on30xchange.net .

For those not familiar with the product, they replace the electrical pickup system on the Bachmann On30 shay with a complete set of phosphor-bronze wipers. Operation is greatly improved because instead of relying on minute contact areas between the axles and sideframes, and between a small spring wire and contact pad, a connection is made directly between the wheels and the locomotive wiring. In addition, the wipers may be used on Bachmann On30 Shays that have been converted on On3, and also on the Bachmann On30 passenger car trucks (insulating washers are required — they are not included in the set). Detailed installation instructions for On30 Shays and passenger car trucks are included. Once again, the design of the Shay pickup wipers has been improved with this manufacturing run. The mounting screw hole has been re-shaped and enlarged slightly to allow for a slight range of adjustment, and to reduce the chance of a short circuit when used with the Bachmann passenger car trucks.

The cost for the wipers is now U$10.95 for a set of four wipers, and includes 1st class postage to the U.S. ALL foreign orders must request international priority shipping. The price increase is due solely to an increase in the cost to have wipers manufactured.
