Welcome to My Morning

Yes, we’re heading out to Williamsburg at some point late this morning. At least, I think that’s the plan. Donna had a couple of medical tests to go to this morning before we left, and I figured I’d take the time to fix what I thought might be a minor problem on my laptop.

Ugh.

So, what’s the problem I’m having, anyway? Well, it started yesterday, when this site stopped rendering correctly on my screen. Other computers displayed the site fine, so, I knew it wasn’t something I managed to bugger up on the site itself (although, I was mucking about with font selections at the time I discovered the problem).

Whatever’s causing the problem with rendering certain fonts correctly is also locking me out of the fonts folder! Every time I try to view the fonts folder, be it from the Control Panel, Windows Explorer or My Computer, explorer.exe crashes. So, I figured I’d run some tests.

Norton’s Disk Doctor complained that it couldn’t do anything to the disk because the OS, or another user, or another process had the disk locked, and would I like to schedule a disk check on reboot. So, I did. And, this is the result of the test.

Need I remind you how much I hate Windows?

Anyway, now I’m moving anything essential to an external drive, and generally clearing as much stuff off the laptop drive as possible so that I may try to run the whole procedure again.

What a great way to spend the first morning of our spring vacation … BAH!
