I just happened across a UK site authored by a fellow who uses a Canon 400d along with a P&S for digiscoping. From what he’s written, it seems my approach using the generic adapter will work okay.

Note: I’ve received a couple of comments stating that this was not actually written by George Carlin. That said, I’m a little surprised. The fellow who sent it along is positively anal about researching the accuracy of this kind of thing before he sends it along. When I get some time, I’ll look into [...]
I’ve pretty much figured out what I’m going to need to put this digiscoping rig together. It will not be the fanciest or most expensive in the world. It won’t have Nikon or Carl Zeiss or Swarovski optics. But, the scope and the camera attachments will be under $300, tax included. That money will net me an Alpen [...]
One thing that I failed to mention yesterday or on Sunday was that I managed to drop my little Panasonic DMC-LZ2 digital point-and-shoot camera. Which is a real bummer, since it was a great little camera — and not a bad choice to use for digiscoping, which is something I’ve decided I want to fool around with. However, [...]
Back on Sunday, I wrote about my trials while trying to shoot bird photos with my 75-300mm lens. And, I mentioned a possible solution being to get a 70-200mm f/2.8 and a 2X tele-converter to come up with a 400mm f/5.6 lens. Realistically, though, 400mm is only a 25% increase over a 300mm lens — [...]
Yesterday morning, I went on a “bird walk” that was organized by our local wild bird supply store. It’s the place where we buy most of our seed and other goodies for the feathered friends who are not our pets, but still make a pretty good stab at eating us out of house and home. Anyway, [...]
Ugh. That was pretty bad. Ah, well. Whaddaya want fer nuffin! Anyway, among other errands last night, we ordered Verizon’s FiOS service, finally. We got the letter in the mail earlier in the week that indicated that the complete service package was finally available in our neighborhood, and, I know that it really is, as our next door neighbor’s installation is already [...]
The most interesting story discusses whether or not Abraham Lincoln was suffering from severe smallpox when he delivered the Gettysburg Address.

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a Methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question.
“Why didn’t we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?”
I replied, “I had a drug problem when I [...]
