WLW Problem Fixed

Thanks to the great support desk at ICDSoft, my problem using Windows Live Writer has been resolved. Seems that they’ve seen a wave of exploits against sites that use the method of updating that WLW and WordPress use to exchange site information, so, they simply blocked all access to the files on their servers. They’re handing out the fix on a user-by-user basis, to those who notice that there’s a problem.

The new version of WLW is in some ways a big improvement over the previous version, in that it does a better job of handling re-publishing postings — especially of those that were not originally written with Live Writer. Previously, edited posts not originating from WLW would cause a double posting.
