Squawk! An Update

CIMG0244-BW For those interested, the little Gray Cockatiel pictured on the site the other day is now happily perched on the top of my laptop screen, watching me type.

We don’t have a name yet, and we haven’t a clue whether it’s a little boy bird, or a little girl bird. But, it was hand fed, so, it’s very tame, and already knows to “step up,” almost on command.

There’s not been a peep out of her/him yet, since arrival here. I’m certain that’s because of unfamiliarity with the new surroundings. We did learn that the little feathered friend gets very agitated when you try to cover the cage at night — so, we didn’t do that last night. At the store, there was no cover — they lived in an aviary environment of sorts — and people work in the store over night. That’s a pretty good thing, since it means he/she is used to some light all the time, and noises all night long. That’ll, hopefully, reduce the chance of night fright.

The little bird’s favorite thing in the world is to sit on my shoulder, which I like. But, I’m told it’s very bad to encourage allowing the bird to get above my eye level for any length of time.

I’m still working on the Zip part of things. More on that later…

Congrats!!!! I’ve had a Conure for 7 1/2 yrs and love it….. Connor is his name and he follows me everywhere. He rides on the lawn mower & works on cars with his daddy and loves to ride in the car and go camping. He loves the shower and brushing his beek. Connor says thank you, I love you, give me a kiss and whistles the adams family song. He has many other qualities but those are a few of my favorites.
Enjoy your new addition and I look forward to hearing what his/her name will be.
