Can You Find Me On The Internet? Of Course You Can!

Donna sent me a link to this article on the Time/CNN web site a little while ago. Go read the article now, and then come back to the rest of this post.

Well, lessee, “Spock” is not officially open for business yet — still in “invitation only beta,” which means they have to come to you to ask you to do searches using their service. PeekYou is also in beta test, and the site fails to load.

Pipl is also in beta test, but at least works — by using Google. I did a search more me, and 100% of the results were identical to the same search on Google. BFD. Nothing there I care about. Same goes for Wink.

If these are supposed to scare me, they don’t. There’s nothing available through these services that isn’t already public.

Waste of CNN’s time and bandwidth, if you ask me. They’re just jumping on the personal information scare bandwagon to drum up viewership/readership. Maybe they ought to stick to covering real news, instead of creating a stir of sensationalism.
