Whither the Cats?
I was reminded that we also haven’t written about the cats lately, so, here goes:
My initial comment was that “I haven’t killed them yet,” which is true.
Shadow continues to make great strides towards becoming a “normal” cat. Normal is in quotes for a reason — what exactly is a normal cat, anyway? He no longer spends his days under our bed, slinking out only for the occasional trip to the litter box, or to hop into the kitchen sink for water. And, he doesn’t dart for cover anytime someone walks near him. He does still prefer the bedroom to any other in the house, but, if I’m down stairs watching TV, he’ll come down to investigate and be petted. Sometimes at night, now, he’ll come up to the head of the bed for attention.
Darjha is a waste of fur. All he’s interested in is meowing loudly, getting under foot, eating liver and bacon, drooling on people, hacking up furballs, breathing his incredibly bad breath on us, and generally annoying the hell out of me. If he’s not doing one, he’s doing the other. And, he’s petrified of Kiah. She flaps and squawks, and Darjha bolts.
Otherwise, they’re both quite healthy and fine and continuing to pee and crap inside the litter box. All in all, not bad.

oh now, come on! they surely add interest to your life: who else do you know who has a drooling cat? There’s no such thing as a “normal” cat - that’s like a “functional family” …and who do you know who has one of those?!?
Well, frankly, Tea, if I’d wanted a drooling pet, I’d've gone right to the best — Mastiff!
And, my family was quite functional. Actually, when I grew up, there were quite a few functional families in the neighborhood. Sure, they all (including mine!) had moments when it seemed things might fly apart, but I knew a lot of functional family groups.
yes, hon, but our functional families seem to have been more the exception than the rule (unless of course this is one of those things where you only hear about the bad ones, and no one ever talks about the good ones)
of course, this being my 3rd marriage — doesn’t that imply that I’M not so functional (regardless of my family of origin)???
Donna,
As I said, I knew plenty of functional families — not just my own. Regarding your functionality … I guess I’d better leave well enough alone …
Poor Darja, he’s such a pretty cat. Does he liked to be brushed? Tell him I’ll come over and brush him while you’re away.
And - I knew I had seen Feline Greenies!
