Yet Another Part Time Job

In my last entry, I snuck in a comment about another job. That’s right, I just can’t live without something else eating up large chunks of time.

Starting two Monday’s ago, I became the Audio/Visual Team Leader for my church, filling a spot that was vacated rather suddenly. The job has me overseeing all of the A/V service aspects of the church, including the main sanctuary, the chapel and the fellowship all. Each location has a full array of audio/visual goodies real hodge-podge of mismatched equipment purchased by a parade of committees and former A/V team leaders.

My job, as usual, is to keep it all working and, at the same time, bring it up to more current standards without breaking the bank (and without taking anything “down” in the process). I also have to grow and train a volunteer A/V team that has unintentionally become somewhat disenchanted by the operating style of the previous A/V team leader.

Such fun!

In reality I work on something or another about 8 hours a day. However, there are lot’s of ‘tween times spent getting from one thing to the next. It’s not really “off” time, and it’s not really “work” time, either.

Leisure time is usually at least a couple or three hours a day during the week. When we’re not shooting weddings or doing sound gigs or church work, weekends are all off time.
