Follow The Leader …

New Years Day, we braved the cold and wind and joined almost a couple hundred other people for an annual beach walk on Assateague Island. Honestly, I expected that only a handful of people would actually show up for this, but, the turnout was great.

The three mike walk afforded some great photo opportunities. The most fun to shoot were the little sand pipers seen in the lead picture. I shot almost 170 images (a full 2GB card!) of them in about 5 minutes! That’s what a 6.5 frame-per-second burst mode will do for you! Even at 1/1000 of a second, there’s still a little bit of motion blur with these little fellows, especially in the legs.
