A Better Day at Assateague
Today we ventured out to the Virginia part of Assateague. We haven’t been down that way in some time, and it was a lot of fun. I ended up being a lot less frustrated — though I was pretty frustrated when I was shooting. For some reason, the previews on the 40D LCD are really soft. But, when I get the images into the computer, they’re much clearer.
I’m convinced that this Snowy Egret was a fan of Monty Python, and his favorite sketch was the “Ministry of Funny Walks.”
Today, we saw (but didn’t necessarily photograph) Bald Eagles, Snowy Egrets, Canada Geese, Mallards, Great Blue Herons, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Yellow Rumped Warblers and Winter Wrens, and, of course, ponies.
Most of the birds were putting on a serious show for us, although the Herons were pretty shy. You can see more pictures, including a neat series of a Mallard in flight in this flickr set.
