tmi - and you’re not getting mine!

got a call this evening from someone identifying themselves as being from a financial services company, and claiming to have business with me, but requested that i verify my identity first by giving my date of birth and one other piece of info (i’ve already forgotten - it may have been address. i’m just not sure) .

My response?  An unequivocal “no!”  I’d never heard of the company before, and it seemed very wrong to me that they would call and ask me to verify my info - they called me, what the heck did i need to prove?  So, I gave my no, to which the person responded that they would “continue to contact [me] by mail.”  Gosh, i wasn’t aware they had contacted me by mail before, so how can they continue to do so?  anyway, a legit call will be borne out over time, and a phishing scam will fail.  in this world where too many people have too much information already, they’re not getting more of mine that easily.
