Donna and I went over to Wilde Lake for about 45 minutes this evening. I wanted to do yet another test after getting my XTi body back from a friend. I shot with the XTi body, the 70-200 (with and without the 2X converter) and with Donna’s 70-300. Of course, I waiting too long in [...]
One of the features of Canon’s new 5DmkII is the ability to record high definition video. I questioned how truly useful such a feature would be. Videographer Vincent Laforet had the opportunity to throw something together. Obviously, the video has been resized to make viewing on the web realistic, but, the quality looks amazing!
From Vincent’s [...]
Over this past weekend, I made some time to run some more non-scientific tests on the 70-200mm lenses. I shot a whole bunch using Donna’s camera and Donna’s 70-200, with and without the 2X converter. I found the results to be fairly similar to what I was getting with my camera and lens.
I also took [...]
I keep hearing about Crumpler bags, and wondered, “What’s the big deal?” I still don’t know what all the hoopla is about, though many of the bag designs look really nice. All of the bags are “modeled” on the site by the intrepid photog shown here. In this shot, he’s sporting a back-pack bag [...]
After much speculation, the sun has finally risen on Canon’s upgraded, mid-line, full-frame DSLR. All the poop can be found here and here, or at the dedicated web site, here. From the preliminary info found on Canon’s site, it offers many of the same exciting features as the new 50D — Digic4; big, new display; [...]
At the risk of making people angry … we didn’t go to visit my parents this weekend. Instead, I had to work yesterday morning, and then Donna and I spent the rest of the weekend doing stuff together, which is something we haven’t been able to do for quite a while. Today, we went up [...]
For those wondering what the heck has had Geren all tied up for the past several weeks … I’ve been busy moving GTV (Howard County’s cable TV station on Comcast 99/Verizon 44) to co-exist with HCC-TV (Howard Community College’s educational cable TV facility on Comcast 96/Verizon 41), and working to build the new, state-of-the-art facility [...]
Obvioulsy, I loaded up a new theme on the blog yesterday. And, yes, I know it’s got an Apple logo at the top. No, I haven’t bought one … yet. But, as WordPress has moved forward through the versions, there are a lot of changes in the stylesheet tags for images, and I’ve been both [...]
Google Chrome browser
Google has released the beta version of “Chrome,” their new open-source browser. Chrome is touted as being a fast, stable browser designed from the ground up to do a good job of running today’s java- and flash-laden web sites. Generally speaking, it performs well. About the only thing I couldn’t get to [...]
Canon have just introduced the upgrade to the 40D, which was released last year. The new camera boasts a new 15.1MP CMOS sensor, DIGIC IV processor and a new, 3″ 920,000 pixel rear LCD display.
Believe it or not, these are not compelling reasons for most people who own 40Ds to upgrade — at least not [...]
