Some time ago, I was cleaning out my office desk and stumbled across a camera I knew I had but had mostly forgotten about, and thought it would be a perfect addition to the fleet of cameras I'll be using for SnapShots. It's a remarkably good little camera, especially given it's nearly twenty years old.

While the on-paper specs aren't brilliant by today's standards, the camera is still capable of deliving nice JPEG pictures. A 9MP CCD sensor is plenty, especially given the small sensor size, and the image-stabilized 10X optical zoom lens (36-360mm equivalence) is pretty sharp. For those interested, [all the specs can be found at Canon's online camera museum](https://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/dcc559.html?ref=gerenm.net).

One aspect of the camera that I really like is that it's primary power source is common AA batteries. Its internal clock battery is a relatively easy-to-find watch battery. This may not seem all that important, but most cameras now use specially designed batteries, and for older cameras, they can be hard to find and expensive.
